Tuesday, June 25, 2019 — Berlin | Following a successful start to the year, mobile games developer Kolibri Games is continuing their success streak by achieving yet another double milestone: The team, which relocated from Karlsruhe to Berlin in January 2018 with only 32 colleagues, has tripled in size over the past 16 months: 100 employees now work for Kolibri Games at the headquarters in Kreuzberg. In addition, their two titles Idle Miner Tycoon and Idle Factory Tycoon have cumulatively reached 100 million global downloads.
100 Kolibris
The young company has set out to become the most player-centric games company in the world. To achieve that goal and to meet the increasing demand of a rapidly-growing player community, Kolibri Games is adding new hires to their teams every month. To find the right talent for every position, the company has set up an internal recruiting team that will help fill the more than 50 vacancies currently available. The team recently moved into another floor in their office building in Berlin-Kreuzberg, giving room to all the new Kolibris and reserving some for further future hires. In addition, the team is expanding management structures to improve and adjust work processes to suit the work in larger teams.
Daniel Stammler, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Kolibri Games, says:
“We are incredibly thankful to the millions around the world who play our games and help us improve them with their feedback. Working truly player-centric has got us this far and we simply need more Kolibri-Power to do our responsibility towards our growing player community justice. At the same time, we are very aware of the challenges that this rapid growth can bring and are actively trying to tackle those to ensure sustainability.”
100 Million Downloads
Kolibri Games’ two idle titles are growing just as well. The company is developing its games “as a service”, together with the player community. Based on feedback from players, the team is updating Idle Miner Tycoon and Idle Factory Tycoon with weekly events and other new content. Following this approach to development, the team has been able to grow their games from a few thousand players in the early days, to over 12 million monthly active users.
Julian Erhardt, Idle Miner Tycoon Product Director, says:
“Hitting 100 million downloads with our games is far more than we had ever imagined. Together with our players, we make our games better step by step and seeing that Idle Miner Tycoon continues to bring joy to thousands of new players day by day, three years after the game’s release, is the best reward for our hard work.”
