Our CTO and co-founder Oliver sat down with Nick from the FUTURE CANDY podcast and talked about the Kolibri Games founding story, why community management was so important for our initial success, and the challenges that come with an MVP approach to game development.
This month, our Idle Miner Tycoon team worked hard on shipping the new Artifacts feature, implementing the Just Dance event mine (which is our first-ever crossover event and collaboration with our new partner Ubisoft), and running the first tests with our own Kolibri-developed A/B testing system.

With the holidays just around the corner, we feel it’s important to play our part in making sure it’s a season full of joy for everyone. That’s why, in November, we organized a Holiday gift bag drive as part of our KSR (Kolibri Social Responsibility) program, for children at a local refugee shelter. Given the current restrictions on gatherings, we decided to go for a remote format where every participant could contribute from home.
Founded in a student flat in 2016 as Fluffy Fairy Games by a group of IT and Business students, Kolibri Games is a young games company based in Berlin, Germany. The team developed their first title Idle Miner Tycoon in just eight weeks, following their signature lean approach. In February 2020, Kolibri Games joined the Ubisoft family, an exciting evolution in the company’s growth as they continue to pursue their goal to become the most player-centric games company in the world.
